  1. 20g high planted

So, in my attempt with a 20 g high planted low tech, the plants are all doing better than i thought. After the first fert dose the pygmy chain sword seems to have established itself and sending off runners. And I just planted some corkscrew val. I'm going for a rather simple tank. There are some sword runners I took from my LFS that are planted closer to the other aquarium, so they get hit with extra light. Right now I only have 0.75 wpg, but the one side of the tank is getting hit with combined ...
  2. Euthanizing your Beloved Fish Friends

I rescued this one eyed Rosy Barb who was living happily in my tank. After contracting costia twice now, and then pop-eye, I decided to euthanize her. I called my boss to ask how they do it at work, not trusting googles baking soda amounts. She advised as little water as possible and lots of baking soda. I had like 3/4 cup of water and 3 or 4 tbsp of baking soda. After a minute, she was still alive. I went to school for biology and having done many dissection labs, I severed her spinal cord. Next ...
  3. First Attempts

I just planted a 20G high tank and put in a beautiful piece of gnarly looking wood and some rocks. I'm just waiting for it to cycle, but I've already purchased 10 glowlights that are sitting in another relatively empty tank. I've gone through many a stocking plan.

    - was gonna do indonesian theme: betta or gourami, glass catfish, rasboras
    - ghost theme: glass catfish, ghost shrimp, glow lights, bristle nose
but then... I wanted to go for more of an Americas theme since
  4. Addiction to Fishin

So, I started off with a 10 gallon for goldfish from before I knew what I was doing. Got rid of them. I acquired a 3 gallon nano tank that I used for guppy fry and no I'm going to put a shrimp in. Then, a 15 gallon hospital tank with a double stand. And now I'm getting my 20 gallon display tank I want to put glowlight rasboras and a wild betta in and do a planted set up. The ten gallon is going to be guppies and platys. Their fry will most likely become food for the betta. Oh what an addictive hobby ...
