Info about Aqua-tech 30-60 filter

I bought an aquarium kit and with it came an Aqua-Tech 30-60 Power Filter. That's the description that I have from the box of the kit. I want to know what type of filtration does it make. I only found bio-media cartridge that makes me think that it's the only filtration it made. But I'm not sure.

I need that information to know what to do with the filter. I haven't open it, in case I have to sell it. If you have this filter or know something about it, help me. Thanks.

I think those "aqua-tech" filters use a cartridge. It has thick wool in the front and in the middle there is activated carbon. at the back of it is ribbed plastic so the carbon doesn't come out and the water can come through. It's easy to change the cartridge, just take the old one out and put a new one in.

The work well in tanks less than about 29 gallons. If you plan on a bigger tank or on keeping live eaters I suggest getting a supplimental filter. Also you may want to by a fry screen for the intake to prevent larger chunks of food building up in carbon filter. That way you just clean the fry filter rather than the carbon filter.

It came with a 55 gallon tank. I'm planning to put some angels and plecos right now no more fish) on it.

they're great filters, and really easy to change.

But it only filter biological and quimical (I thought). I want one that filter in the three ways (biological, quimical and mechanical).

Does anyone know where I can find replacement parts for the aquatech 30-60 power filter? I need a new impeller assembly. I have a pacu that has a bit of a temper and he broke the impeller during one of his fits.

Their Walmart branded, use Whisper media as I recall. Whisper parts might work.

Buy Penguin replacement parts for it...AquaTech is the same filter as the Penguin 330/350 minus biowheels. They are fantastic filters I have some AquaTechs that have been going with me for over a decade.
