On another thread Coca Pleco said I should buy Iron for my plants. I bought Iron today. Is Iron Harmful to my fish? If yes, how much is Harmful?

i bought iron yesterday actually. this one was intended for aquariums specifically, and it says one capful for every 50 US gallons. says it should last about 6 months too.

Is it just possible you bought Seachem. NA


I was confused. Mine said 1 capful, but came with a droper 1ML long.

my hagen is a capful for every 10g. a little bit of overdose wont hurt the fish, alot will. (if the fishes gills are red, that means too much iron is in their system)

yeah mine is seachem but didnt come with a dropper

Can African Clawed and Albino clawed Frogs withstand Iron? Right now Thats were the Bulk of my plants are.

I have a 10g with 2 Small Amazon Swords
20g Heavily Planted Frogs.
45g going to have half tank planted.

What you need is celated iron, that is, dissolved in solution. Proper dose as the package suggests won't harm fish or frogs.

If you have questions about dosing I would recommend you look up Greg Watson's dosing information online. He mainly talks about dry chemicals though. Still good info to have if you are planning on keeping a planted tank.
