neons and serpaes ???

Would neon tetras do well with serpaes or would the serpaes be to nippy for them? I can't decide if I want to get gold barbs or neon tetras to put with the serpaes and black phantoms when I get the tank set up. The neons would be more colorful than the gold barbs, but I don't want them if they are just gonna get bullied. Any other ideas? thanks.

in my tank i have all sorts of tetras (including neons and serpaes) and they all get along fine. there is plenty of space for everyone to get out of each others way if need be but i havent seen any nipping or anything, besides the black widows but that was on the little goldfish i had in there for a week or two (which has since been removed by the way!). :c3:

If the neons are in the tank first and in good numbers (a dozen or more) for a few weeks and there are half as many serpaes, you won't have troubles.

i was planning on having 5 neons and 5 serpaes

i have 10 neons, 2 serpaes (i did have four but lost 2), 3 lemon tetras, 3 black neons and the 3 blackwidows.

i have 7 serpaes and they dont hurt anyone else in the tank (other fish in sig, to lazy to list) the most ive seen them do is chase another fish away, but most of the time they chase eachother so your neons should be fine

i also have 4 serpaes and 7 neons, at first they had their tails bit up but i think they settled their differences, but my flame tetras have bit up tails still.

I adore the Serpaes, but rarely consider them when buying because I've heard horror stories, so it's nice to hear people that have had good experiences with them.
