im nelson, from malaysia..i own a 18 gallon(us) cichlid tank..hope to learn more from u guys..is it possible to have 12 cichlid fishes and 2 plecos in a 20 gallon tank?

There is no way you could stock your tank to that limit, Impossible.

The most you could do with cichlids is maybe 1 pair of small cichlids such as convicts, or similar size, others will add more options.

If you like pleco's, again in that size, Imposible, maybe bristlenose catfish, which are similar in apearance only much smaller.

Do a search on the site for something like stocking suggestions, there are many threads on various size tanks.

Also do yourself a favour, and download the free ebook, it gives a lot of good advice on the setup of a new aquarium.

I agree, thats way too overcrowded... escpecially if you are interested in aggressive cichlids. It would be fun to make a South American Biotope and include an apistogramma pair (dwarf cichlid) or blue or gold rams. a pair of Kribensis could also be a possiblility, I'm putting a pair of em in one of my tanks.

and on plecos, go with cracka's idea of bristlenose, they are sooo cute and the best tank cleaners around!

hi guys,sorry for the late reply. im busy with my exam preparation. Is that good to fit 2 pairs of small african cichlids (Pseudotropheus demasoni ) and (electric yellow lab) and a small pleco in a 18 gallon (us) tank..will it be a harmony tank..btw, can i mix with 2 small puffers...??i like the way they swim..
