Hey, I will be setting up my 29 gallon here in the near future and I need a little info from you all. I will of course first off get it cycled and ready before adding my fish but I still not certain on what to get. I thought about either an angel fish or 2 with a red tail shark and for bottom some panda cory's and a bristlenose pleco. My other thought would be to have all minature fish kind of like those real small gourami's, otto's, pygmy platies and maybe some dwarf platies. What do you all think? Of course it will depend on how readily some of these fish are.
-------------Few questions------------------
----can angel fish work by themselves with out another one.
----if I went 2 female and 1 male sailfin mollie what else could go with it. Talking mainly on bottom dwellers--otto's, bristlenose pleco, cory's and other free swimming like upside down catfish, red tail shark.

I'd love to have some sailfin mollies in a tank with other fish but I'm not sure how much of a load it would put on a 29. I love the gold sailfin, I think they are awesome especially the mail when it's full spread in all it's glory---not much of a better looking fish than this. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. THANKX.

be careful with the sharks, they tend to become very territorial as adults. if you have 2 female and 1 male mollie you will end up with lots of babies, so be ready for that. if you don't want babies then go with all females.

I would go for all males....because the females could already be fertilized and they store aperm in themselves that can last up to around 3 batches of fry. (not sure how many times they can fertilize themselves though)

if you go with all males then wouldn't they fight? or do they only do that when their is a female present?

all males may have some aggression, but if you dont mind the odd fry go with 1 male:2 females

Well ike if they are te same with guppies no they wont fight. I have 2 male show guppies and they don't bother each other at all. i don't have any female guppies in the tank (well i will soon) and they still don't fight or even bother any of my other fish.

No I don't mind the fry and if I did go with sailfin I'd try to find some place where they sold decent lines of mollies. Don't know where that would be but I hardly ever see any sailfins worth buying in the petstores anymore, as a child or teenager I used to get mine from privately owned petstores and the fish seemed to be alot better quality, but that was along time ago.

i have 2 male guppies and they do fight
especially now that they are in season
i am lucky though my males are not hurting each other just fighting over who is boss,
i have a fair few females as well and there is a very small amount of agression with them as well at the moment
but normally they dont fight
