My father setup a FW 10g tank a month ago. He has a Sunburst platy and 2 plants. One plant is a small Amazon Sword and the other I don't know. It has leaves the size of Dimes.

The problem is the second plants leaves are falling off blanketing the tank. What can this be? The plant is growing tall though. It looks something like a Ludwigia, but I know it's not a Ludwigia.

The tank

2 Plants one is a Amazon Sword
Sunburst Platy
Orange Pea size Gravel
Whisper 10
Sumergable 50w heater
15 watt light on 5 hours a day.

Well it could be a mix of not enough ligthing (1.5w per gallno is fine for amazon swords but i dunno what the othero ne is) and 5 hours of light a day isn;t long enough. it should be on for 8-10 ( but any more may promote algea)

i would say maybe get some liquid ferts and leave the lights on more

I know we were having problems keeping our bamboo alive, but we bought some plant conditioner (and we finally bought a light for our lid) and now our plants are doing splendidly!

Here's a link to the stuff we bought (I think this was the stuff):

Hope that helps!

i use hagen plant-gro liquid ferts. my 55g has 30W lighting, and the CO2 never really kicked in, and i use hagen liquid ferts and i have medium-high light plants and they all are bright lime green with no dead spots

You may have a plant the was grown immersed (very popular) and is reverting to it's submerged form. I f that's the case, all the leaves will fall off or die and will be replaced with new leaves

Could be moneywort [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]

No it's not that kind of plant that regrows leaves. It is not a Moneyworth plant.

Another question. I always wanted to add Carbon from a bottle into my tank. I was wondering is the carbon in a bottle any diffrent then Carbon in your filter? If you have carbon in your filter do you need or can u add carbon from a bottle?
