female bettas can sometimes be kept together but in groups of 4+ unless you have two very peaceful females which can be hard to find. Its also good to keep 2 gal per female depending on aggresion. You could try if you really want to but be prepared for aggresion. Is your tank heated b/c not many tropfish will do well in unheated tanks. I would reccomend just getting a bigger tank so you can keep more fish(always a good excuse for more tanks:)

I would not put any other fish in a 2 gallon. I have a 2.5 and can't imagine having another fish in there.

Get a ten gallon. Another betta female. Maybe some guppies or some rasboras.

With female bettas, the more the better. So that would mean a bigger tank, though it doesn't have to be huge.

I have 3 females currently, all housed separately. I'm not feeling the vibe to start a sorority. Unlike my males, though, my females genuinely seem interested in looking at one another (my males instantly turn fierce and I don't want to stress them) so it keeps them busy.

One of my females I adopted from someone online. She had been part of a sorority before (with her old owner), but had been such a bad seed that she ripped into all the other females (there were at least 4 females in there).

So some girls are just plain mean. And I hear most are territorial to an extent.
