Does anyone here know where I can find good quality clear plastic Rubbermaid like tubs? I need some cheap tanks to overwinter my Gammarus Shrimp (Scuds) and Hornwort. They need to be about 5-7 gallons and crystal clear. Any ideas?

'Crystal clear' might be an issue but The Dollar Store or Wal-Mart are really good bets for that size.

Target or K-mart if you don't have any of the above near you.

I'm in the Bronx. I'll check this weekend. Thanks.

Yep, Essentially any big box store should have something that will work.

I see lots of plastic totes but I don't think I've ever seen crystal clear ones.

I use just normal bins from walmart as temporary or long term tanks. Not sure if I've seen really clear plastic ones at walmart, usually they got that plastic sort of clear-white hazy look to them. May just want to grab a 10g tank for $11 at walmart.

Might wanna be careful with the clear ones, I've found them to be kinda brittle. And I second looking at just getting some ten gallon tanks instead. I know I've seen them for $10 or less at Walmart whereas the bins will probably run close to that anyway.

At My walmart they sell the real 10 gal. aquariums for like 12 dollars apiece. just the the tank no hoods or filter or nothing like that.

Thanks for all the inputs! I'm so glad I joined this forum, it's much better than some others. Kmart near me has some almost clear ones the seem kinda sturdy but hopefully not brittle. I just may go with the ten gallon tank. For the price I can't go wrong and you can't get too much clearer than glass.
Thanks again to all.

If the shrimp are worth keeping, go glass or food grade plastic.
Non-food grade are generally brittle or bulge so much you're always on the edge of disaster. Also, some of the storage tubs have anit- mold or mildew additives. Bad news for living critters. Hornwort probably won't care.

Thats a good move IMO.
