gourami and eel?

we have 6 gourami's and my fiancee wants an ell really bad. has anyone ever had those two together? the place where we buy our fish says it should be ok if we get a semi-aggressive eel. i just want to make sure we dont pair the wrong guys up.

I have a gold gourami and a fire eel in the same 72 gallon tank

What size tank do you have? Most eels will need a larger tank than the one I have now.

we only have a 29 gallon tank.....we are looking for an eel on the smaller size. should i wait and see how big our fish get?

I would wait - unless you are absolutely positive you will be able to get a larger tank when you need it.

I will be replacing the 72 Gallon with a 200 Gallon in about 6 months or so - so mine will have plenty of room (right now he is only about 8 inches long or so) but I expect him to double or triple in size over the next few years.

Have you thought of a peacock eel
they are pretty cool and are not overly agressive

i dont think i have seen those around. right now i am only going to petsmart and i dont htink they have them. but i will definitly will look into it. my fiancee wants one a lot. thank you for the advice
