It was sold as a "gold inca" I have no idea what actual sp it really is! I had a few of them but they all starved from no algae:hmm3grin2orange:

Is that a L187 or L187a? I want to post my L187b but I don't have a decent camera that shows his stripes. Just looks like a green pleco lol

I finally figured, out to embed today, doh, see my journal for link. He / She is juvenile Ancistrus Cirhosis sp known as superred

A note on the snail I believe that's an apple snail. They like left over veggies, algae and algae tablets it seems.

Me... I found on google when researching rubber lip plecos, for all I know the numbers are out dated.... but the only real differences of the L187, L187a, L187b are style of markings. The L187b's body is stripped and the other 2 are spotted.... I myself can't really tell a L187 from a L187a.... A guide on rubber lip pleco care made note there are 3 types and I googled each.

Edit: mite of googled bulldog pleco and not rubber lip.....

planetcatfish has the numbers pretty well defined.

It looks to me like a 187a, which is mid-large spots all down the body. The 187b / L-444 tends to be a more solid body coloration with blobby large patches that are lighter. And the L187/ L443 tends to be a more freckled all over his body with potentially some larger blobby colorations.

At least thats what looks like the differences to me!

Well today being the exceptionally desirable "peas" day.... I got you a slightly better pic of my Gold Nugget... whom we call the highly imaginative "Spot"

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-gjqdF1MY6WY/UDpW6_nNB6I/AAAAAAAAESA/8kA6pg7EdrE/s873/CRW_2294.jpg

Not to be outdone... the rubbernose countered with this "Scotti-special"

I have just 1 pic of one of my plecos, I've got a bunch of other. but more of a question about one of mine.

why is it this color? I've never seen one with an odd color pattern like this

Hate to say it, but that's one mega stressed out Pleco, have you got nowhere for it to hide? Or wood to chew on?

One of the advantages of working at a pet store is that you get to nab the bizarre looking fish before anyone else does. This is my two-face Rubber Lip Pleco.

This is Krusty my Clown Pleco. You can tell he's not very happy with that SAE. He "let him have it" right after I shot this photo.

When I started this hobby I did not understand everyone's fascination with plecos. I thought they were ugly, but necessary fish. Well, slap me up along side the head. :14:
Now they are my favorite fish and I think they're beautiful!
Here's my baby ABN plec (Baby P) and my new Emporer plec - Napoleon.
I LOVE them.:l24:

I agree with fish mommie, I came into this hobby last year thinking I wasn't that interested in having cat fish, well I have ancistrus super red plecos and an oto.

All extremely fascinating.
