So I have a problem...

A fish hitchhiked in on a plant I bought and I didn't know the species. It took me days to find out it was called a Skunk Loach. Once I figured this out I did some research and discovered they can be somewhat aggressive, sometimes even poking the eyes out of other fish in the tank.

Unfortunately, it took so long to find this out that my boyfriend and myself have come to absolutely adore him.

So I need advice.

Has anyone ever had a Skunk Loach before?
Are they as bad as everyone says?
Should I try and rehome him?
Will he be okay in a 55g tank with Rainbowfish and Angelfish?

Thanks so much for any advice/help you can give!

I have not had them myself but from advice I have read before is that a species tank is most suitible for them. With a school they take out aggression on their own kind. I definately would not want it with angelfish.

yes, they are usually that bad. keep an eye on him, because some are more aggressive than others. even moreso when other loaches are around. he may be small enough to be okay for awhile.

Thanks guys. I'll keep an eye on him and if I see aggression I'll QT him until I can find him another home.

They can be aggressive, but I have them mixed with cichlids just fine. The only thing I would be concerned about would be the angelfish getting its fins nipped.
