I just saw the photos of the dwarfs
is it the same for all the gouramis
and are they egg layers os live breeders???

I posted pics of 2 gourami's in one of the other threads...so you can tell between male and female. Males have a more pointed dorsal fin and females have more rounded fins.
Let me see if I can find the pics.

I've noticed the difference on all of them...and that has been the popular answer on all the webpages I've researched with. I'm getting a couple dwarf for my 29 gallon, so i'm hoping that my information is right. lol

yep, you can tell dwarfs by their top fins.
i cant sex my large pearl gourami, hes about 6", and its driving me nuts. lol

Ah so my opalescents and pearls do not follow the same rules....

Though I think it was GM, who mentioned that sometimes gourami will pull the fins close to their body, so it may be hard to tell or give the appearance of being a male when its really a female.

ive noticed that my pearl gourami will pull his fins close to his body when he swims, then lets them out when he stops. hes a really beautiful fish
