That looks like it'd be really hard to clean/abrasive when fish rub on it. Do you by any chance know what type of rock it is? That would help a lot, since a lot of rocks change pH or emit chemicals.

This might be obvious already but was this rock meant for a fish tank?

no idea but a way to check if it will alter your ph (the major problem with some rocks) is to splash on some vinegar. if it fuzzes up then it WILL raise your ph (not good unless you are doing some fish) if it doesnt then it wont raise ph.

what area are you from might help the search for what rock that is.

If you do decide to use the rock, Make sure you boil it before you put it in your tank, I allways boil my rocks for about 1/2 hour on hard boil before i put them in my Tanks.

The first one might be a regular boulder rock. The second, I'm pretty sure it's a lace rock.

Please do not boil rocks, there is a tendency they might blow up. Just boil the water and pour it over the rocks in a container and let them soak for a while.
