We just aquired a pair of pink convict cichlids and are wondering if angelfish and the convicts will be ok together in the same tank? I am willing to put the angels in our 5 gal tank till the new owners come for them if need be.

What size tank, what tank mates, what filtration, what is your waterchange amount and frequency?

Well from what i heard....convicts are a species only tank but...you can fins a few tank members for them. (but this is just from what i heard from someone else)

If the convicts start spawning whilst in the tank with the angels there will be aggression probs.

How long before the new owners are picking up the angels and how big are they, because the 5G would be to small to.

i would have to say no. angles are peaceful and slow moving, and convicts can be grumpy.

i know the 5 gal is too small for the angels but a day or two should be fine. The angels are medium sized. I do have a ten gal that has corys and guppies in it with guppy fry but i think the angels would eat the guppy fry.

yep, those guppy fry would be snacks

Well the angels are in the 5 gal for now and the pink convicts just love there new home! They keep uprooting my plants! Surprisingly they are not trying to eat the tetras..... yet anyways. Hoping tomorrow the angels will go to there new home.

Just thought, can you divide the tank for the couple of days, and put the convicts on one side and the angels on the other?

This would also save stressing the angels twice with 2 moves.

Well it's a little late for a divider. the closest pet store is 40 miles from our home. I didn't think of doing that. It's a great idea though. thanks

Well the new owner came and got the angels tonight. They are going into a 42 gal tank. Bigger than the one they were in. Hope they like their new home. Going to miss them. :ssad:

Mate, if you could not house them, you done the right thing by them, besides, have you got visiting rights?

Yeah i have visiting rights. And they said i get my choice from each spawn when the new owner decides to breed them. I have breed them 6x successfully.
