View Full Version : can I ever get new fish?
I haven't figured out what killed my fish -TB or internal parasite. If it is TB, will my fish that survived be carriers or is it more in the water? I have done several water changes since the deaths but will my tank be safe for more platys and how can I find out for sure what it wasor is?

any fish that have been around fish with TB should be destroyed. if a healthy fish pecks at one with TB, it gets the TB. and if you touch a dead or alive fish with TB, you would probably get it, meaning you wind up in the hospital, and maybe dead. i would say get rid of all the current fish if they were around TB fish (sadly you have to kill them, NO flushing), and bleach the tank and wash it thoroughly
Totally agreed. A tank that had potential TB has to be broken down, thoroughly disinfected, and set up again.

Sorry to hear about this. But i agree with the other 2 that you will have to kill the fish and i would wear gloves when you kill them and when you clean out the tank. But i would clean the tank several times with bleach and also i would wash out the filter and the whole works. Atleast twice just to make sure you got it all. And then sadly you will have to start your cycle all over again.
Sorry about the loses!!!!!!

its common in danios. they have a hunched back and are thin, with a curved spine. its the same type in humans so humans can easily get it
The danio comment may be the best news I have heard--My 5 danios all survived along with my loaches, rainbows and corys. Maybe it is an internal parasite--I hope. If danios get it wouldn't mine have? Could a frog have introduced TB to my tank or a rainbow?--only new fish in months. Rainbow is still alive-frog did not make it. One site I researched suggested 25-30% of fish maybe infected with TB just misdiagnosed. I hope not because we'd all be in this situation. I am clearly looking for anyone to debunk the tb theory.
