The yeast or the sugar?

I just set up a 20 oz bottle that is about slo-mo on the bubbles. Like about one stinkin' bubble every 15 minutes.

I used 3/4 c sugar to 1/4 t. yeast.

It will pick up, yeast multiplies by cell division.

More yeast will give you a faster start but will be exhausted quickly.

Using lesser amounts of yeast will result in slow start with longer production.

I use 1/2 tsp yeast, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 3 cups sugar in a 1 gal container. Takes 24 hrs or more to get the first bubble, picks up quickly after that and lasts about 6 wks.

Wine yeasts last longer

Mine bubbled good the first day but went plop by the second. I may try your receipt except for the baking soda. My ph is high enough.

The backing soda never leaves the bottle, it is to keep the solution from becoming to acidic and killing the yeast, will not alter the ph of your tank

You need more sugar. The bubbling stopped because the yeast used up all the sugar. I use 2 cups sugar 1 teaspoon yeast for 20 oz bottle.
