Seems I will be getting a pair pretty soon. Anything special I need to know? I plan on getting rid of most of my plants because they will tear them out. I was thinking 2 penguin 350s on it along with 25% water changes every 3 days. I have cichlid gold in the sinking and floating form, what ever they prefer and frozen food of all sorts. I am going to feed feeder guppies about once a week or once every 2 weeks from a tank I have so I know if they are sick or not. I would like to know what kind of decor they like and what kind of plants if any they like and such.

all i know is they like caves for hiding and i believe i read they like floating plants. what kind are you getting normal jacks or like electric blue jacks?

What ever is available to me, LOL. So am I looking at getting some flower pots to make caves out of? Can I just go clean it to make it suitable for the tank? I have floating plants already.

i dont know too much about them but i had read that they use pots and cave structures to drop there eggs for fertilization,

Dempseys are cool fish, they are tough too. just be sure to add a lot of hiding spots. when you get them, snap some pictures of them! good luck .

no one likes green terrors around here? they are cool too. they kind of remind me of dempseys but terrors are slightly more aggressive. either way they both are cool fish.
