Anyone used Lexan for anything?

I want to make a transparent, flat, cover for the aquarium, with a hinge, and some holes for filter and heater.

I remember using Lexan in engineering design class, and you can cut it with a hand saw (and drill it with a power drill) without it melting, and it doesn't break or scratch easily.

Transparent Aluminum!

It costs a bit more than plexiglass, but last time I was there they had it at Active Surplus in Toronto for a good price. I might pick up a surgical implement or two for pruning/planting there also.
