Well I'm including pics I took last nighte - not the clearest cause they're from my phone, if this is definitely what my newbie is does anyone know what their "common name" is and how in the world do i take care of this one?

Now that's totally confused me. Caerulopunctatus has those blue spots and the dark eye stripe, but that large side spot is no where near that intense in that species. No other fish I know of has the intense blue spotting like that, but that big black spot has me confuzzled. I'm going to send your pictures to some Cichlid guys I know to see if they can figure it out. Its either a hybrid or a different population of caerulopunctatus, I can't be sure. It'll chew on me 'til I figue it out.

yep it will...he will hunt until he finds the answer... I am honestly shocked that he dont know it already....lol Good Luck figuring out what this odd lil fellow is.

how about a blackbelt, i had one years ago that was kinda similar
