Woa, crazy. Never seen a giant hill right in the middle... is that just a huge pile of the substrate? (must be, otherwise the substrate would just slip down the side, I would think)
I'm curious how that's holding up, have the rocks moved around? an updated pic might be cool.

Really sweet idea, I dig it

Nice!
@above:
its actually quite common. And you apparently put rocks down and cover it with stubstrate and put in cardboard peices to make sure it doesn't fall.

LOL, I always try to make big hills in the back but my fish dig, and dig, and...yeah.

Yep that is my problem now the betta feels that the anacharis bushes need to be rearranged -_- Thanks for the compliments I think I am switching to black gravel tomorrow. I need to redo the tank haha.

Thanks Philip, that makes more sense that just a huge pile. Doing it that way you could kind of sculpt the hill... hmm, I'm intrigued, I've seen a lot of tanks and I can't believe this is the first time I've seen this.

How does the cardboard not break down? Maybe it's just that the water doesn't get to it...?

cardboard doesn't seem too. I don't know.

See "Natures Chaos aquascape" on youtube for an amazing 30 minute vid of building an enourmous aquascape plus commentary.

Ya well it also depends what kind of plants you have it was not working for me so I tore the tank down and redid it again.... I never can get it right. I will post a new pic.

:hmm3grin2orange: Dang woman. Do you blame him. It even scared me because I thought something was gonna crawl out of there.
:hmm3grin2orange: It does look very, very nice now and calming. (Thank God)

@LH you should see Natures chaos then.... rocks for everything to creep out of...

though not as bad as a rocked reef. 0,0

I would never have reef. I see some of the weird things people find sneaking out of their rocks. All kinds of worms and critters. ewwwww I'd be removing the rocks and spraying them with RAID.

Ah, yes! The deep blue substrate and peaceful ambience -- much, much better than the precarious hill. I wouldn't change a thing about this latest . . . Soothing to watch.

I disagree. I think it had potential to turn into something interesting once the plants grew in.
