Help,
My aquarium plants look like they are dying and on further investigation they have small brown 'things' that would look most like a plant seed of some variety, attached to the leaves. Unsure if i should take them out and get new ones, but would rather get to the root problem.

thanks

Telling us the species of plant you have would certainly help :22:

Java ferns sprout plantlets from their leafs, they start out as little brown dots then sprout roots and leaves. You can pick them off and attach them to wood.

Unfortunately I have no clue, I told the assistant at pets at home my set up, fish etc and said 'these ones' so i took them! :(

will do, however, this might narrow it down.... it's moving!!!! it is some kind of snail/beastie thing thats brown!!!!

That does not narrow it down as there are millions of invertebrates which live on leaf undersides. However there's a high chance of it being a snail. Please don't try and plant it :22:

Perhaps remove the 'unknown beastie' instead of ripping up your planst

there are unfortunately quite a few of them, the leaves on the plant are dying off as well. If i remove the plants, whats a secondary option for making sure there is enough oxygen in the tank?

Airstone, or if your filter is agitating the waters surface then that should do.

thank you for your help, i'll have to give my tank a water change and clean to get rid of them, and invest in an airstone!

Goes to 11!

I am betting that you simply have pest snails that hitchhiked in with your plants, Click here (http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/showthread.php?t=5&highlight=post)to read the forum sticky on how to post images.

A quality picture will simplify things greatly.

If you have not read each of the red stickys in the beginners forum (http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/forumdisplay.php?f=66) as well as the ones on cycling (http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/forumdisplay.php?f=111)you will find them very very helpful.

if the plants were bought at pets at home they come with a snail presence guarantee.

Also they are normally close to death at point of sale from there.
