CYcling Tank to Tank

Greetings.

I am considering buying a larger aquarium and have read the threads regarding cycling the tank sans fish.

Here is my question.

If I buy a larger tank and place the gravel bed and other items from the original tank into the new tank, along with about 25% of the water, can I safely transfer my current fish into the new environment, or should I wait?

Wait about forty-eight hours, transfer half or a third of your fish, wait a week or 10 days, then add the rest. Should have no losses that way.

if your transfering all of the fish in your current tank you can also move the whole filter and get much more of the bacteria

...and remember that adding old water does NOTHING to help, only adds nastiness to the new tank.
