Well its me again... Got a hold of some bio spira yesterday from LFS. Seem to be legit because he even had a refrigerator just to hold the bio spira. Well anyway I added the bio spira after I had done a 50% water change. Did a reading on the tank prior to putting biospora. Amonia .5ppm / Nitrite 0.0 ppm / nitrate 0.0 .. Well if I did get a legitimate bio spira then how long should it take before I start seing some kind of results.. This is what I have read and understand on the nitrogen cycle. Amonia should be present of course then amonia gets converted into nitrites and then another bacteria turns nitrite into nitrate. I will take a 24 hour reading later on tonight and post.

Ohh yeah and for those who dont know my issue, my tank has been up for 2 weeks and didnt do a proper cycle.. Introduce 2 mollies and clown loach after a day and and then a week later after a 25 percent water change I added 3 angels.. Ohh yeah one of my angels did not make it yesterday..

One more question is adding substate from a cycled and acclimated tank same as adding bio spira..

Thanks for all the help. post you all later..

yep, the substrate holds the bacteria so placing gravel from an established tank to a new one boosts the cycle

Ok no changes from last reading still same results. Amonia .5 ppm/ Nitrite-0 / nitrate-0. Puts some gravel from a LFS cycled tank hopefully that helps. will post new results tomorow before the 50 percent water change.

Bio spira gets the bacteria growing quickly and doesn't allow the toxic levels to get as toxic. Said to work within 4 days.

Sorry you lost an angel but I'm not surprised. They are pretty sensitive to water conditions.

When you do get your cycle, add fish just a few at a time and don't add a whole bunch or you will get a set back.

thanks again lady hobbs. well still no change in reading...amonia at .5ppm and rites and rates at 0 ppm. just got done with my 50 percent every other day water change and brought the amonia down to .25ppm.. Im starting to really think I ripped off with this bio spira.. Anyone ever tried. Turbo start and had any luck with it... Thanks eveyone....

Did you take your carbon out of your filter before you put it in?
I've never used it, but maybe it takes a couple days to work completely? I dunno...I really have no suggestions, but i've never heard anything bad about biospira or that it didn't work? Hmm...

Give the Bio Spira a few days and don't do any water changes with the Bio Spira in the tank. Patience in needed, nitrifying bacteria can't grow and establish over night.
