hi, this is my first post and i am a beginner, i have 2 tanks ;- first has 4 female guppies, 2 moscow blue male guppies, 8 neon tetras, 2 loaches (look like sharks but has suckers for lips approx 3" long, brown/grey coloured (dont have a clue on actual name) and 3 baby guppies awwww cute!, i want cichlids and have a new tank (which has almost finished its fishless cycle) my tank is w 37 1/2" h 17 1/2" i believe it is a 44 gallon tank. when is it suitable to add cichlids and which types should i get and how many? i like angel fish and the blue cichlids, i plan on getting clown loaches later on also.
any help would be great! many thanks in advance.

44Gallons would be too small for clown loaches but what you could do is get one or two( no more) angels with a few dwarf cichlids?

clown loaches get too big for a 44g. you could get a pair of angels, 10 cory's, and some other fish though like kribs or 3 silver dollars.

EDIT- lol, ninja post!

i think US gallons are larger than UK, cant remember, but some smaller plecos like clown plecos or rubberlips are fine

there are plecos, such as the bristle nose pleco that would be suitable. They only grow 5" long. You cannot but a common pleco tho as they get a couple feet long.

Look up the genus Peckoltia and/or Panaquolus (sp.) as fish in those genii reach no more than five inches.

Hi, fluffy and welcome to the forum! You could add dwarf cichlids, yellow labs, blue dolphin cichlids and peacock cichlids. :)

The poster has not been on in some time now..Check the dates before you post so older posts don`t come back up.

you could put in key holes, non agresive cichlids, cockatoo are the sam as the key hole
flags again non agressive cichlids, and severums are another good breed
all these fish are very pretty and a great addition to the tank
