View Full Version : How do you tell if convicts have paired?

I introduced the male convict into the 20g long, and 5 minutes later both the male and female colors had darkened and they were lip locking. an hour later they stopped. Know they just hang around togther, and the male chases the female if she makes a run for it. Did they pair up?

yeah, i'm pretty sure they are, mine did the same, at first they were all toghether and stuff and then they were kinda on thier own it seemed like, and her colours faded, but then one day I looked in the tank where it looks like they were nesting and there were babies.

You will know for sure if you notice nesting.

Convicts are the rabbits of the egg-laying fish world. Just add water and feed them once in a while. I've even seen them spawn on the bare bottom of tanks. Convicts are, by far, the easiest Cichlid to breed.
