how long does it need to run?

I put my aquaclear 50 on my 50g tank. I put the provided sponge in it but replaced the biomax with cycled biomax from my broken canister filter. My question is how long does it need to run before it is seeded good. I am going to set up my 36g and move the filter to that. Is 2 weeks running on the big tank long enough? The canister was running for a few months so the biomax from it should have lots of bb.

Because you are using partially seeded material, I would think 2 weeks would work. Just keep your eye on the ammonia levels as you go.

As long as you are feeding the tank with ammonia or have fish in the tank. Just letting the filter run will do nothing but kill off the seeded material you added. I am assuming there must be fish in the tank now? I would give it one month myself.

Yeah the 50g is stocked. I need to move my stock to the 36g so i can tear the 50g down cause i need to clean the carpet due to some water leakage.
