I just set up my second tank. It is a 30gallon with gravel and slate pieces. I am trying to get it to cycle without fish. I read about using ammonia. Does anyone have experience with this? How did you do it exactly?

Also considering some easy plants. Any suggestions?

I am not sure what type of fish. Our other aquarium is platies and mollies. I am ready for something different. Any suggestions of fish for the new tank?

Thanks,
Kristy

Recommend that you take some water and gravel from the old tank to the new to help the fishless cycle along.

Easy plants are plentyful such as sword plants, hornwort and java fern.

Don't know exactly what kind of fish you are looking for but you could try some gouramis or some dwarf cichlids like kribs.
