I'm treating with salt and heating the water. I sure hope he can fight it, I love that little guy :( He seems to be the only one in the tank with a problem.
Will the salt be harmful to any other inhabitants? They are:
-clown loaches
-silver dollars
-bosemani rainbows
-neons

yeah the clown loaches have no scales therefore salt= bad news. Try putting your severum in a hospital tank with hot water, salt, daily Large water changes and hope for the best.

Quickest way to eliminate the ich is a saltwater dip. Get some marine sea salt, mix it in a container, bring it to the same temp as its tank. Let the severum swim around in it for a few minutes, or til it shows distress, then put the little severum in a quarantine tank for a few weeks. The fish can handle the salt, the parasites can't. If you do it this way, you won't endanger your helathy fish.

Hmm, the saltwater dip sounds like a good plan, though I don't have a "quarantine tank" I only have my 10g whith is housing 2 cories, a guppy, 2 molly fry and a SAE. I could put the severum in there...HOWEVER I noticed today that one of my neons also has the ich...so now what? should i just medicate the whole 100g tank with an ich med???
