Hello everyone, I am new to owning a Jaguar Cichlid and need all the help I can get. She is currently in a hospital tank...in shock I think. She is just laying at the bottom. I think I changed her water to ofter 25% every day for 3 days to get my Nitrite, Nitrates and Ammonia back in a livable condition. I then think I over did it on Stress Coat and PH8.2 trying to get it back to the right level within a day. She does not have ICK yet, however she is very larthagic any advice would help to get her back to normal

this isn't really the right section of the forums for asking questions so it'll probably get moved,

but in the mean time, we'll need to know more about what's going on. Tell us everything you can about what you've done with the fish so far - what tank was it in before the hospital, tank size, filtration, tankmates? Same question for the hospital tank. You mention water parameters not in "liveable condition" - what are they, why are they bad? Did you add the fish to an uncycled tank? The more you can tell us the better we'll be able to help.

Base on the info you provided, it sounds like there two things that are stressing out your fish. This first is being in a un-cycled tank. This can cause you ammonia and nitrites both to build up very fast and both are toxic to your fish when the level get above 0.5ppm. The second thing that is likely stressing him out is the swings in PH. When you have a swing in PH great than 0.3, it can add a lot of stress to most fish.

I would suggest stop trying to adjust your PH and allow it to stabilize as a stable PH is far better for your fish and swings in the PH. I would also suggest testing your water daily for ammonia and nitrite. This way you can complete enough waterchanges to keep the levels below 0.5ppm

Edit: forgot to mention that I moved your thread to the correct section of the forum
