Well we just finished a DIY CO2 system that everyone has been talking about on here. I used a two liter bottle for the yeast sugar water reaction, a gatorade bottle for a gas diffuser/ bpm counter, and a bell system for introducing CO2 into the tank water.

The recipe was: 2 cups H2O, 2 cups sugar, 1/4 teaspoon yeast, and 1/4 cup hot water.

My question to others is how long does it take the yeast/sugar water to start making CO2 bubbles?

Ok. We were worried we did something wrong by the fact that there have been no bubbles and its been about an hour since we made the solution.

Maybe not something wrong but I have been doing DIY Co2 for a few months on my 29 and here is what I would recommend.
Fill your gatorade bottle 3/4 of the way up with luke warm water. Add 2 cups of sugar. Put in 1 Teaspoon of yeast and shake well.
Done.
If temp. is right and it was a good mix then it may start within a few hours if not then by the next day it should be bubbling at about 1 bubbler per second.

I will try that if this doesn't work after a few days. I have noticed in my bell that it has a little co2 pocket formed so it must be starting to work just at an extremely slow rate!

Ya the first few days it will be uneven but after 2 days or so it should be an even constant flow for at least a week.

I by the way I didn't realize you had a 29.
In the near future I would seriously recommend getting something that can hold one gallon. I used a 1 gallon powerade jug.
Use the same mix: fill 3/4 w hot water and 2 cups of sugar EXCEPT, use 3 Teaspoons of yeast. The gatorade bottle you have now will not be enough to supplement a tank that well with about 30 ppm of Co2.

the gatorade bottle is only a gas purifier/ bpm counter. I have a two liter bottle for the yeast sugar water mix.

My final recipie ended up being 2 cups warm water, 2 cups sugar, 2 1/2 tbs of yeast, 1/2 cup hot water.

Put 2 cups sugar and 2 cups warm water in a 2 liter pop bottle. mix the 2.5 tbs of yeast in with 1/2 cup hot water ( used hot right out of tap) then pour the yeast and hot water into the sugar water. Shake well and your done.

but not too warm, really warm water kills the yeast
