Hi All! Well I'm at the point where I need to know what the most accurate water thermometers are. I've read reviews and bought a couple but I have nothing for sure to tell me precisely what the temp of my water is. Can you help? Thanks in advance :)

I have found digital thermometers to be the more accurate choice

I use the below one. Seams to be accurate

Check out the link Cliff posted. Slightly off isn't a big deal. If you have the heater set at 79 but the thermometer says 80, that's perfectly fine. Doesn't mean the thermometer isn't accurate. I'd question the heaters ability over the thermometer any day, a the ambient temperature affects the heater performance while it does nothing to the therm. If you go digital, most have batteries you may have to replace

I use a regular thermometer that suctions to the inside of my tank and found a temp on my heater to keep my tank at 78.

Got the standard glass tube, sticker, and even a Ryobi Infrared Temp Gun.
All in all, I trust the glass tube and Ryobi more than the sticker.

And I like to used the gun, hold the trigger and get a full scan/sweep of the tank to see the general temp patterns of the tank. <<<=== Just means I'm probably OCD about it.

If the temperature in your tank is critical and you really want to know - buy three different makes (average lower cost units - you can buy a high end calibration unit for $$$) and just average all three if they are all close (if not, get another and then throw out the single unit that is significantly different; if all are significantly differ - you are really unluck!)
