I have a 5 gallon tank with 2 common goldfish in it. I put the thermometer inside and came back several hours later. It shows that the tank is near 80 degrees! The goldfish are doing fine and show no signs of stress. What does this mean and what should I do?

It can be hard to keep the aquarium temperature down and a water cooler is quite expensive so your fish might just have to live with the temperature that is higher than what would be ideal unless you can move the tank to a colder spot.

Does it stand exposed to sunlight?

It is right under a window. since it is under the window, The aqaurium is dark. So it is not exposed to sunlight.

Than there isn't much you can do without spending a lot of money.

Well, Thanks for your help. I solved the problem by weekly water changes, which lowers the temperature and is better for the fish.

Thanks!

Was weekly exchanges enough to keep the temperature down permanantly (ie during the whole week)
