Okw ell i bought these shrimp at my LFS and on the tank it said ghost shrimp but when i asked for them the guy said that they arn't ghost shrimp and he didn't know what they were but i took 10 anyways and well i was wondering how to tell them apart. Male and female. They sorta look like a ghost shrimp and like and algae shrimp.
Because well i want to breed them.

Algenco would you beable to help me since you breed shrimp. I just want to know how because i really want some more and my LFS has no more and wont get any in for quite a while.

females are larger, i think 3" and males are 2.5". i believe the way you breed them is a rubbermaid container, and put a male/female in, seal it until its pitch black, then eggs come a week later. thats what i was told

Well how long would you leave them in there???

They are probably ghost, my LFS sells them as feeder shrimp and that is what I buy them for but I still have 2 from the original stocking!

So well how would i exactly breed them???? I know that they say they like brackinsh water when the babies are born. Like the babies like float into brackinsh water to develope.
Is this true????

They do need salt to breed, that much is true, but I don't know specifics on how you encourage them to breed.

By salt do you mean sea salt?? or aquarium salt????

Marine salt. Brackish water occurs when a freshwater tributary meets the ocean.

Yeah i know but i was just checking.
Ok well cocoa_pleco said that i have to put them into a rubbermaid container and close it so that it is dark and a week later there will be eggs.
So how big of a container?
How much marine salt do i put in it?
where do i put the container?
what temperature does the contaier have to be at?
and just little stuff like that i would like to know please.
