Hi guys, now you might laugh, but I don't have a clue how shrimps breed. I have a little freshwater aquarium with Gubbies and 2 shrimp. One of the shrimp has small black spots inside it - could be eggs ?? its new as it has always been transparent.

My question is now are they laying eggs in the bottom of the stones or plants or do they give live birth ?

Can you tell the difference between a male and female shrimp ?

I really don't know how this site is working either, I'm just giving it a try so thanking anyone who can answer me or give me links to information on the subject.

Enjoy your day.

Guppies I suppose. Yes, black spots may well be eggs.

Depends on the species. Some will release eggs, others larvae, others fully equiped but tiny copies of themselves.

With a lot of species females are a bit plumper and more rounded. They also carry the eggs.
