HELP! Please advise how to solve these problems/questions:

1. Since the fish showed symptoms of Ick very soon after removel from the cycling tank, is it possible the Ick parasites are also in main tank that is cycling without fish now? (same water, substrate, filter media was was exposed to both tanks).

2. Can Ick parasites in any stage or form of their development survive in 200 liter tank cycling without fish (temp has always been high---84 - 89F) If yes, for how long can they be "dormant" in that tank?

3. If high possibility of Ick in that tank just lying dormant and waiting for yummy fish to attack, what to do about getting rid of the Ick before adding fish after this large tank has finished cycling?

4. If your suggestion includes medication/chemicals, then how best to remove the medication from the newly cycled tank to make it safe to put Pangio Kuhli loaches and the other fish into it?

BACKGROUND INFO:

Have a 200 liter aquarium now cycling WITHOUT FISH. But originally started WITH fish. All fish were removed 2 weeks ago to begin fishless cycling the 200 liter. Bought a second-hand 10 gallon aquarium that was fully cycled and mature especially just to keep SOME of these fish. Rest of fish given away.

About one week after removal from the 200 liter tank, three fish in the second, cycled 10 gallon tank showed Ick. Have been treated and look fine now. Though conitnuing to monitor for recurrence. (Learned lesson the hard way and will convert this second tank to quarantine tank after main tank is cycled and Ick episode gone.)

During the time that fish were all still in the new, 200 liter cycling tank, I seeded the tank with several items, ALL FROM DIFFERENT SOURCES, mostly pet stores.

Seeded with these items:
1. One of the two filters on the cycling tank was seeded with 100% filter media from a cycled tank.

2. Mulm from cycled tank.

3. 5 gallons water siphoned from substrate and water squeezed from the filter media of cycled tanks.

4. About 2 pounds of substrate from a cycled, mature aquarium (yucky dirty, and won't keep, but did not clean it. Put it into a nylon bag to keep seperate from my substrate for easy removal later).

5. A piece of decor that had been in cycled tank. (Yucky dirty, but didn't want to clean and kill the needed bacteria.)

6. Two live plants that had been in pet store, cycled aquarium. One live plant attached to drift wood (also had been in cycled aquarium), and other live plant is rooted in a moss ball.

Sorry moderators...didn't know if should post this under cycling or fish diseases or under one of my existing threads about this tank cycling!

Thank you in advance for your time to help.

Ick only survives if there are fish in the tank to feed off of

There are no fish so no ick

Therefore, no need for meds
