So I thought I'd ask since it threw me for a loop. I dont remember who but someone said that Mollies need a lot of space in a tank (20 gallons at least? I think??) I remember having a ton of mollies, platy's and neons in a 29 gallon when I was little......they were never big......so i'm just confused. lol Please someone clear this confusion up for me! hahaha :22:

larger ones like sailfins should have around a 29g. small ones like balloon bolly's and black molly's can live in 10g's but a 15 and up is better

Ditto on that, sailfins get BIG, as in 6" or so.

Ok that explains it then. The ones we had were black molly's and they were always on the smaller side. Thanks guys! :)

It was me who said Mollies need space. Not only Sailfins, but ALL Mollies.

Mollies like to swim, the love a decent current, they need warmer water, and the LOVE space.

To keep Mollies in a 10 gal. tank is like as if you had to live in a 4 square metres rest room.
Its clean, you have good food and water, but, K dont think you really would like it.

A nice school of Mollies NOT under 200 litres.

Oh man.....i'm glad I didn't know that when we had a whole bunch of them in the tank as a kid. I didn't know anything about fish, I just helped my dad with the cleaning and feeding. I know for sure though thinking about all the fish and babies we had in there, plus 2 frogs at one point....that tank was probably way overstocked..... *Ugh.....* Thanks for that information Andrea!
