hello, i just added a light to a goldfish tank and relized many of them have what looks like air bubbles in their fins. theyre in a 30gal hex (i know, too small, i relized this after the 15 day insurance thing). the tank was cycled and all 7 have been fine for a year or so. all the "bad stuff" is well within the safe range. pH is 7 and hardness i havent checked in awile. save the fishies!

Giving people exactly 6 minutes to reply will not win you any awards for patience.

You have 7 goldfish in a 30 gallon aquarium. Horrible idea, but you already know that. "Bad stuff" is hardly an aquarist's term, please elaborate on your water parameters. What is the filtration and tank maintenance schedule? Inevitably your fish will die because you have them cramped into a far too small space. The bioload will never keep up, and it is likely that you are at the beginning of an inevitable downward spiral.

gm is right with all of that. and 6 minutes is not enough time for someone to reply, even the front of AC says "our members often reply to any question within 24hrs"

sorry bout that. i knew my computer was about to lose internet again. anyway, amonia and nitrite 0 and nitrates are well within the safe zone. i clean the tank 75% every saturday. as for filtration, i have an aquaclear 70 with biowheel. again, sorry about the rush and lack of details. i hope this clears everything up

Once again we will ask, what are your water parameters? Water temp?

Most test kits don't read them that low. Are you sure you are reading it right? Maybe you are seeing 20?

If you indeed have 7 goldfish in a 30 gallon tank, it is most certainly not alright. The LFS is dead wrong. However, your water parameters sound fine. For now.

i was reading about fish "illnesses" and the symptoms match over-oxygenation. sounds a bit strange to me
