I was in my LPS and they have a nice 400G tank that they like to display "unique" and large fish in and i noticed this HUGE plec( 16in) stuck to the glass upon closer inspection it had a row of sharp teeth and the manager working saw my astonishment and told me all plecs have these teeth but they are only visible after maturity. Is this true??

ya, but they are small and almost like a sand paper when very young. They also eat pellets and flakes, right?

Maybe it was a carnivorous pleco such as a golden nugget... According to this http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/pleco/goldennugget.php it could reach that size
