whats the smallest one? the smallest I've been able to find is 3' with my favourite growing to 4' :( . I'm hoping theres one that only gets to about a foot and can be kept long term in a 75g.I really like these fish but can't provide a home for any of them that as far as my knowledge goes.

75 gallon, that should be enough for an arowana, Australian Arowanas only get around 2 feet andd a half and ive seen them kept happily in a 80 gallon

Sorry. no such species. The australian or northern arowana that FULL3R talks about can grow to be 36 inches / 90 cm.
You can read this article about ]Arowana fish ([Only Registered Users Can See Links.) to learn more about the different species.

75 gallon will not be enough in the long run. Might be okey for about a year (maybe less) but after that he would need to get a larger tank.

guess that means no arowanna for about 5-6 years :( , mostly because I've seen pics of 1' silver aroawannas in a 55, not something I'd like to have.

ome more question for about 5-6 years from now: would a giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy) be a good tankmate?

the arowana wouldnt be a problem to it unless it was a juvenile gourami and the arowana could swallow it as for the gourami they can be a bit agressive but i think it would be alright

Yes, giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy) as well as the 3 (?) other giant gourami species would be good companions to an Arowana.
