My lfs has in what he is calling a stardust pleco. He said he gets them from a local breeder. Honestly never seen something like this before, they have a very smooth rounded head, not wrinkly like most plecs. Colour is kinda white/silvery around the head going down to brown black at the tail, with flakes/speckles of silver all over it. Will take a picture when I'm in next thurs fri, but anyone got anyidea? I've had a google online and came to the conclusion they are L262, I have a 48 gallon to put one in, anyone got anyadvice on them?

From the brief bit I looked them up it looks like they are more carnivorous in nature and like higher temp ranges.

There is someone on aquabid selling soem gold nuggets as Stardust plecos, but you mention silver and not yellow, so the L262 is probably the more likely option.

Nope not one of them, from what I can remember (shouldve taken a photo) the closest thing I can see is a L262, had a look on planet catfish and the info was very little. Anyone got any info on L262

Is it Ancistrus dolichopterus L183? They are commonly called Stardusts. Starlight is the proper common name.

There was a breeder around here selling Moonlight Plecos (Basicly a blue zebra) freaking $200 CA for a .5" fish. .. Anyway, he mentioned how often he sees different plecos having 'star' in their name, and how very rarely they are labelled correctly.

When in doubt:

Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L-number)

The only issue is you'll have to dig through the numbers.
