I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what happended in my tank this morning. I had pregnant sailfin mollie, last night I finally caught her and put her in her breeder box, this morning there was 1 dead fry and about 15 little yellow eggs, with fryes that were all different sizes and stages of development, what happended? I've only had live fry, not sure what to make of it. Any help or comments welcome.

do you have any other fish in the tank? being livebearers, mollies don't lay eggs. I don't know what could've happened, but someone with more experience with breeding will be able to help

Catching her probably stressed her out so much that she gave birth prematurely.

Thanks, I called a fish breeder in our town and they said she could have had a misscarriage, but that she was probably egg bound since the fry were all at different stages of development, I asked if me catching her would have caused it and they didnt think so, if she was egg bound they needed to come out and she wasnt comfortable having them in the tank so she waited until she was seperated.
