Every once in a while, I look up fish species in the data base and am surprised to not find the species I am looking for. Just now, I found no entry for a common fish, the Mollie.

Is this and other missing species, an oversight?
Is the data base work in progress?
If so, is help needed with research and creating a better database?
Is there a sticky where we can report / request an addition to improve the forum's fish data base?

Good idea on a thread to report fish that would be good to have on it, only molly page I managed to find was for the sailfin molly

What you need to look up is livebearers - mollies are in this group along with guppies, platys & swordtails

Edit: oh THAT database - you're right : ) - there are so many different varieties they probably just can't list all of em

I see; the family common names, tetras, platties, mollies do not have entries. One must look up a more specific name, a specific fish like Neon Tetras' or Glass Catfish, instead of simply catfish.

It would be handy to have entries for all the family group names, like "Tetras", than in the article on tetras, links to those in the family, like Black Skirt Tetra, Rummy Nose Tetra, Neon Tetra, etc.

Than there are some of those listed in the left column, but not all.
Live-bearers are listed, but Egg-layers are not, unless I am not seeing or realizing something, like a different type of listing.

Yes I know I can always google-it, but that takes me or others away from this site, to a maybe better, more complete resource. I am not being critical. Obviously an inordinate number of hours have gone into making this community forum what it is. My point is maybe we can make it even better. In my OP, I was offering my help in doing so. There is no deadline for improvement. More important is accurate data if one is going to add it to a database.
