What to feed a whip tail?

I recently purchased a whiptail pleco from my local fish shop, and was planning on feeding him algea wafers, but I did a search just to be safe and I got mixed results. Some poeple said they do not eat the same things as other plecos. What is your take? I am going to the store today, so anysuggestions are welcome!

I feed all my fish NLS Grow or Cichlid pellets and spirulina flake as their staple diet. The whiptails and BN thrive on that along with all the rest.
