Cory's & Salt

Now I know that you shouldn't put salts into a tank with cory's the question I have is what if you've got other sick fish in there (with no other spare tanks to quarantine) & you want to add a little salt to help them - what is the best thing too do? Usually I quarantine but this tank is being used whilst I fix a leak in my jaguars tank. I was hoping to put salt in for my stressed out kribs.

Well alot of people will say I am stupid and don't know what I am talking about but if you put a very low dosage of it then I don't think it bothers them to much, I do. Stress coat is a good alternate and I do them both together.

Most cories are actually much more tolerant of salt than most people will lead you to believe. Add a little at a time and watch them carefully.

i bummed up once and put salt with my cories with no issue

I use aquarium salt.

half or less than the recommended dosage on the package, preferably the amount it says for tetras or something of that sort.

I found that a tiny dose of AQ salt doesn't seem to bother my cory's. I used about 20% of the dose listed on the box.

hi i kept my cories in a brakish tank for a few years and while they were in the salty water they bred like rabbits and the eggs did hatch aquarium salt wont hurt them at all in small doses they actually seem to like it.
