This a 1 inch dalmation molly that I received free from petsmart about 2 or 3 weeks ago. He gave me her because she was a baby. I am not sure how old she is. In the last few days she has gotten really fat! I am wondering if anyone can tell if maybe she is pregnant? I don't think it is dropsy because none of her scales are sticking out. I do not see a gravid spot because there are black spots there. Here is a picture.

I was gonna say the same thing. Either pregnant or overfed. The molly's we kept when I was young were constantly pregnant! It felt like we always had the little net up with babies in it.

Btw those dalmation mollys are soooo cute! They had some at petsmart that were huge (in length) almost 2 1/2" long!

the big ones are the coolest. i had a large one and he was obsessed with me. if i went to the tank he would follow me and want to be fed out of my hand. my giant gourami now does the same thing.

from the pic, your molly looks more pregnant than fat

She looks prego to me...If not then she could also be constipated that does happen with fish you know...especially if the pet store fed her a different diet and you changed it. Have you seen her going to the bathroom at all? She don't look too young to be prego tho so you'd have to wait a few days and see if she poops & it's still plump in her belly area. If she is prego get ready for them, if you keep them in with her she'll kill them. Go read our free E-Book and ask lots of questions in the breeding section if you want them to have a chance to survive. Good Luck!

I put her in a 3 way breeder overnight and when I woke up this morning she looked normal. There was poop in the bottom of it and no baby's so that would be my guess. Thanks for all the fast replies.
