Hey my name is Dylan, I am 20 years old, I live in Illinois and have become quite interested in aquariums as of late. I've had a few basic setups before but nothing too major so I know my basics but I'm looking to gain some knowledge from people with a similar interest. I learn pretty quickly and am very excited to get started :)

Thanks for the welcome :) been looking around and seeing there is a wealth of advice here. The predatory section has defiantly caught my attention, I'm sure thats not unusual for someone that doesn't know what they are getting themselves into ;)

Welcome to the Family. You are doing the right thing by researching ALL options. I know that at 20 years old that this word was never in my vocabulary {Patience} But you must have it in this hobby. The Great people on this Forum will be Happy to help you.
Welcome fellow Illinoisan! What kind of tanks do you have?

I'm in central Illinois about an hour north of East St.Louis. Small town called Gillespie haha nothing too special and at the moment I have no tanks. My parents took the liberty of getting rid of all my aquariums when we moved when I was in high school and I haven't exactly had the cash or time to get a new setup. I am hoping to look at my options here and begin something new and exciting, I've always had a passion for aquariums and I am ready to get one going :)

I defiantly got that impression just by skimming the boards. I am very happy that I found a community of people that are very avid about this hobby. I'm open for suggestions and am still considering my options but I am leaning towards a predatory with a good contrast in the inhabitants. However I am sure that is much easier said than done.

Yes one as a start. I don't plan on living in my current household for too much longer. Wouldn't wanna get anything too elaborate going and then have to move it all.

Haha well funny that you mention a 55 gal tank, I just had a friend tell me they have a tank that size they are willing to part with. I've asked for the deminsions and a price. Comes with a stand too ^_^

Hi instinct.....Good for you for doing the research first. A bit of learning about cycling, what filters are recommended, the proper fish to keep together is very important in this hobby.
