I picked up a glass tank today that is quite dirty. I remember reading somewhere that you shouldnt use soap and water to clean a tank. What is something good to use to clean it? It was used by snakes and geckos before sitting for awhile unused so i am sure it needs a good cleaning.

I've used vinger and it worked out really good for me.

You just have to rinse the tank very well afterwords.

Agreed with the vinegar but also please make sure that the tank is actually an aquarium and not a tank used just for herps. The herp enclosures use thinner glass and can't hold water to the volume we need for an aquarium.

No it is an aquarium. They were just using it as a reptile tank.

Yep, vinegar is the best for tank cleaning! thumbs2: Also, if the stuff that's on the glass is a bit tough to move, don't use steel wool, it will scratch up the glass and make it look horrible. Use one of those softer scouring pads that you use to wash your non stick pots and pans with, they work well!
