Love the outcome, but MAN that's a ton of work. I have the skills, but the time involved must be unbelievable!

Steve Hampton writes a lot of articles for the net. It is a lot of work for a novice but a carpenter that has the know how and the right tools could do it fairly easily.

I liked his stand, too. Heck, I wouldn't afford the resin. That stuff costs a small fortune.

My son was going to build me a stand that resembled a pirates chest. Obviously it never got done but I know it would have been awesome. I saw some of his stands when he had tanks.

wow.....guess i won't be building a tank now.

Wonder if the plywood tank is harder then just building an all glass tank with a frame....

Cool!! thats the old way of making tanks and they look and work well.
Might see about making one myself, but not that big it wont fit in my living room, well maybe I might just be able to squeeze it in. lol

That tank was amazing looking. I wish I had half the skill and patience to do that

Is it just me who thinks the stand would be just as suited to having a coffin on top of it at a funeral?

I agree with Hobbs, the cost would be the killer, resin is very expensive, not to mention a good grade plywood.

His 500G outdoor pond in the DIY link on the same site is neat to, and resonably inexpensive.

When we build our new house I would love to do something like that and have it built in so the aquarium front is flush with the wall and have a small room dedicated to the aquarium.

I'd have no problem building it. I don't know it just doesn't look like 2" screws :c7:
