Is this the 55 with the 10 tiger barbs in it that you posted about previously? Or the one that you were posting about adding angels to?

Are either of those [I hope not both] in the tank atm?

Neither would be a good mix with a severum imo. You could possibly get a fire mouth or a single sex of convicts [no chance of breeding aggression that way].

Sold my tigers so the only thing in the tank is the severum

Usually, if I want to know if a fish tank will work, I use aqadvisor (http://aqadvisor.com) and I do some additional research. I don't think aqadvisor has green severums, but they have some similar species. Hope this helps:22: .

I would go with a single Firmouth and a pair of Bristlenose with your Severum. I would certainly not add any additional Sevs to the tank as it does not offer enough foot print to house them properly. If you wanted you could also add a shoal of large tetras, 8 Buenos Aires would be another good addition.

What is your filtration? If you go with my suggestion above your tank will be fully stocked and you will need an efficient filtration system. I would also do 50% weekly waterchanges with the fish mentioned above.

Careful there with aqadvisor. Some things are good information and many things are not. You can get some ideas from them but no one can keep fish according to a chart.

I know AqAdvisor isn't perfect, but IMO it's a good starting point, of course though, more research should always be done.

It may be a starting point but many people don't look beyond one site for their information.

We have a forum here with people who are experts in many areas and have kept these fish, such as MCHRKiller who just posted. Many here have kept fish for 20-30 years so why would you send someone off-site to look at some spreadsheet?

It may be a starting point but many people don't look beyond one site for their information. Then they are at a minimum uninformed and very possibly idiots just like everyone who only gets their info from just one source. Yes, Even if it's here..
However, That is not MLBs fault.

It's because he is trying to help them LH and he didn't state Aquaadvisor was gospel. He stated it's a resource he uses along with other research.

Come on? Are you seriously taking issue with that?

I wasn't. Not sure why you are. I believe I also said "Some things are good information and many things are not."

Ah yeah, I am not either.

That wasn't really the post I was addressing. It felt like the vibe had changed, Well cool then. Thanks for the clarification. :22:

[My bold above may look to be a bit overboard but it was just for emphasis - Back to your regularly scheduled thread - sorry for the interruption]

If all you have in there currently is the one severum IMO you have room to play around a bit with other fish. You didn't mention what size your severum was though, and often that makes a difference on how accepting they will be of other fish (younger fish are usually easier). I currently have a large red spotted severum in a 70 gallon community tank (I did purchase him when he was about 3 inches) it includes : 3 angelfish, 6 lemon tetras, 6 black neons ,3congo tetras, 8 assorted rainbows, 1 roseline shark, 2 bushy nose plecos & an assortment of cory cats. I've had this current stocking for over a year and everyone gets along great. Some may feel that it is overstocked, but I have very good filtration and I do 50% partials every week. Hope this helps.
